Our mission is "to provide a comprehensive Emergency Management Program which coordinates people and resources to protect lives, property and the environment within Shelby County by using an all hazards approach of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery for disaster and emergencies."

Shelby County has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone
all or targeted areas of the County in in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts. Examples include: evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, and missing child reports. Simply click on the CodeRED logo to the right to submit your contact information to the notification database.
